Masterclass Tachograph Manipulation

From the 19^th until the 23^rd  June 2023 a Masterclass on the topic of tachograph manipulation was organized by ECR TWG in co-operation with Roadpol. Because of our farewell to Osnabrück, we found a good new “home” in Hasselt (Belgium). There was a 50/50 mix of ECR “inspectors” and Roadpol police officers. Participants came from France, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, United Kingdom, Ireland, Romania, Croatia, Estonia, Austria, Germany and Sweden.

Over the week participants received both theoretical and practical information and explanation on the different types of tachographs which can be installed in vehicles. Given the situation there are a lot of different types of vehicle units found, resulting in many ways of manipulation.

Participants were able to use their learned skills on practical cases with available tools to figure out whether a tachograph or a sensor was manipulated or not. Furthermore divided into groups they also had the challenge to solve actual cases with their knowledge.

This MC will be the only one in 2023. In 2024 we will be back with 3 MC's in January, June and October. A longer article can be found on the Member Section.
