ADR Crossborder Enforcement Belgium

From the 22nd until the 24th of October 2024, the ACE (ADR Crossborder Enforcement) took place in Belgium at two different locations: Minderhout and Turnhout. This ACE was organised by the VLABEL (Vlaamse Belastingsdienst—Afdeling control).
There were 22 participants from Croatia, Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Romania.

During two days, 51 vehicles with dangerous goods were checked. These consisted of mainly tank vehicles and distribution vehicles (packages). 35% of the trucks checked were not in compliance with the legislation.
Due to severe infringements, such as load securing, product residue, leaking tanks, and damaged packaging; 7 vehicles were immobilized until the infringements were solved.
Once again, the ACE was successful with a lot of satisfied ADR inspectors. Knowledge and experience were exchanged. Discussion about differences in interpreting certain ADR paragraphs teaches us that we are not yet done. And that is what it is all about, harmonization of roadside checks of dangerous goods.

Many thanks to the competent Flemish authority, Vlabel, and to our colleague Jessie Van Den Heuvel, the Flemish inspectors, for their perfect organisation and warm welcome.
See you at the next ACE in spring 2025! 👏
